Portrait of Jersica NagiJersica Nagi was born and raised in Fiji Islands. She moved to Canada in 1990. She graduated from New Westminster Secondary School. After high school, she attended CompuCollege School of Business where she earned her diploma in travel and tourism. She has also achieved a certificate in Indigenous Canada from University of Alberta. She has work experience from restaurant, office assistant at medical and chiropractor’s office. In 2002, she was employed at Prospera Credit Union till 2020. She started as a teller, then senior teller as a supervisor, and eventually as a Relationship Manager Associate assisting financial advisor’s and the financial service officers with the mortgage and investment matters and at the same time overseeing and assisting junior tellers. Jersica has always valued her team work principle as a key play at workplace and the same approach goes towards her volunteer work.

In 2020 when she got laid off from Prospera, Jersica took the opportunity to continue her studies. At present she is completing her Bachelor of Arts in general studies and Minor in Indigenous community justice and anthropology at Kwantlen Polytechnic University.

Jersica is married to Gurdit Nagi, who is a BC Provincial Committee’s League Representative. They have two sons, Prabhjit and Jagvir both of whom joined the Air Cadets with 278 Cormorant Squadron. Prabhjit, has aged out from the Cadet program in October 2023. Jagvir has another year to go till September 2025.

Jersica started as a parent volunteer with 278 Cormorant Squadron in 2017. She helped manage the Squadron’s canteen. In 2019, Jersica joined the 278 Cormorant Squadron Sponsoring Committee as a Director and then in 2020, took the position of Treasurer till 2023. Along with the treasurer’s role, she also helped filling in the secretary’s role doing meeting minutes and secretarial work. Together with her husband Gurdit, they submitted the Squadron Sponsoring Committee’s application for Charitable Status and were successful in obtaining it for 278 Cormorant Squadron in February 2024.

Jersica was also honoured to receive Certificate of Merit from the Air Cadet League of Canada, British Columbia Provincial Committee in October 2023.

Jersica has dedicated most of her time volunteering since high school and is continuing to do so to date. She has volunteered with Queen’s Park hospital helping seniors in the baking program, Newton RCMP inputting information of stolen goods and Surrey Food Bank with her two boys. Whenever Prospera initiate programs to serve community, she also took her boys along to volunteer, taking part in adopt-a- street program, movie nights at Holland Park serving popcorn, supporting elementary schools in fundraising making cotton candy. She was also involved in the Squadron’s fundraising activities.

Jersica sees volunteering in the Cadet program as time invested in the program that have positive benefits for the Cadets.

Jersica is enjoying her new role and duties as a Director with the Air Cadet League of Canada, British Columbia Provincial Committee.
