Gail Elgert
Gail Elgert was born in New Westminster and raised in the Lower Mainland. After graduating from Delta Secondary in 1974, she enrolled in the Criminology program at Douglas College and received a Diploma in Criminology in 1976. Gail worked at the Delta Police Department retiring in 2016 after 40 years of service as a police dispatcher, 911 call taker and Records/CPIC Clerk.
Gail first became involved with the Air Cadet program in 1976 when she was recruited by a co-worker and persuaded to join the Cadet Instructor Cadre eventually becoming the Administration Officer with 819 Skyhawk Squadron. She served in this capacity until 1981 and attained the rank of Lieutenant.
Gail met her husband Rod during her service in the CIC, they married, and decided to take a little break from the Cadet program. When their son Scott joined Air Cadets in 1997, they once again became involved in the program with Rod as an Officer in the CIC, and Gail as a volunteer with the 819 Squadron Sponsoring Committee. During her time at 819, Gail volunteered in the positions of Secretary, Treasurer and Vice Chairperson.
In 2003, Gail was invited to join the BC Provincial Committee of the Air Cadet League, and over the years has volunteered as a League Representative, Wing Chair, assisted with the Provincial Effective Speaking program, and was the Provincial Coordinator for the National Summer Training Courses (NSTC). At the present time Gail is the Director of Human Resources with the BC Provincial Committee.
